Pennsylvania Redistricting

The Legislative Reapportionment Commission on August 17, 2011 adopted a resolution certifying that the data necessary for redistricting is now "available" to the Commission within the meaning of Article II, Section 17(c) of the Pennsylvania Constitution.

The Commission has up to 90 days to adopt a preliminary plan. After the preliminary plan is adopted, there is a 30-day period for public comment. Following that, the Commission has up to 30 days to make revisions and adopt a final plan.

Additionally, the Commission adopted a resolution to create a website. The website contains basic information about the process, a contact form, maps of the current (approved in 2001) General Assembly districts, maps of the previous (approved in 1991) General Assembly districts, and a link to download the data referenced above.

The Commission will be holding hearings across the Commonwealth this September, including a hearing in Pittsburgh scheduled for September 14th.

For more information on the hearings and how to request to testify please visit the Commission's website.

The Commission's website address is http://goo.gl/2fA2Q
