Dominion Peoples Offers Info on Energy Choice, Assistance Programs

Senator Orie announced today that Dominion Peoples is encouraging customers to shop for gas suppliers under the Energy Choice Program.

Consumers can call Dominion Peoples toll free at (800) 950-7989 for:

  • Third Party-Program:  Allows customers to designate a third party to be notified of a pending service termination.
  • Budget Payment Plan:  Spreads payments more evenly throughout the year.

Consumers can also call Dominion Peoples toll free at (800) 400-WARM (9276) for information on the following assistance programs:

  • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP):  A federally funded program that provides grants to income-eligible customers.
  • $1 Energy Fund:  For customers under a certain income level, this non-profit agency can provide help when all other forms of help have been exhausted.
  • Low-Income Usage Reduction Program (LIURP):  Based on income and energy use, customers may receive heating system retrofits, weather stripping, caulking, insulation and other energy-saving measures.
  • Customer Assistance Referral Evaluation Service (CARES):  Dominion Peoples Customer Relations specialists provide assistance for customers in special situations, such as the unemployed, those with certain medical needs, or frail, older adults.
  • Customer Assistance Program (CAP):  Allows income-eligible customers to pay a percentage of their bills based on income and family size.
  • Other help:  Call local county assistance offices.  Learn more at www.dom.com; type "Peoples assistance" in the search box.
