Jane Orie (R-Allegheny) will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. on Tuesday November 13 in the state capitol’s East Wing Media Center to unveil legislation that would make Pennsylvania one of the first states in the nation to implement the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act. John Walsh, who heads the Adam Walsh Foundation, will make a videotaped presentation at the event. Also attending will be Mary Kozakiewicz, mother of Alicia Kozakiewicz, a Pittsburgh teenager who was abducted by an Internet predator. States have three years to implement the program, and bonus awards will be made by the Sex Offender Management Assistance program to jurisdictions that are in compliance by July 27, 2008. |
