FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company Receives $10,000Sen. Jane Orie (R-40) announced that she will present Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company with a check for $10,000 on Tuesday, April 3, 2007. Orie said the grant will fund the purchase of a thermal imaging camera, which has become a valuable modern tool for saving lives. The device detects infrared light to create a thermal image of people and animals trapped inside a building, thus allowing fire fighters to "see" through smoke or total darkness. In addition, fire fighters can pinpoint the exact location of a fire within a wall before it travels throughout the entire house, potentially saving the homeowner thousands of dollars in damage. "Volunteer fire fighters deserve our sincerest gratitude for the life-saving work that they do out of the goodness of their hearts," said Orie. "They also deserve access to the latest technology and equipment, and I will continue to do everything in my power to make sure they get what they need." |
